Vision Correction
Today's advancements in vision correction surgery provide options for patients wishing to minimize or eliminate their dependence on glasses or contact lenses. This section can assist you with understanding which procedure, laser vision correction (cornea) or implantable lenses (lenticular) may be right for you.
Laser Vision Correction
Laser vision correction is a family of procedures designed to correct for myopia (nearsightedness), hyperopia (farsightedness), astigmatism and presbyopia (the need for reading glasses). The options of treatment include LASIK and PRK to treat non age related changes in your vision.
After your initial consultation, your eye surgeon will make treatment recommendations based on the type and severity of your refractive error and the health of your eye. LASIK and PRK are the two most common types of laser vision correction being performed today. Both procedures are performed in our Webster office.
- LASIK . Laser in-situ keratomileusis, or LASIK, is the most frequently performed laser vision correction procedure.
- PRK. Photorefractive keratectomy, or PRK, is a type of laser eye surgery used to correct mild to moderate nearsightedness farsightedness and/or astigmatism.
Cataract/Lenticular Surgery
The options for cataract/lenticular surgery can correct many ranges of visual issues, including myopia, hyperopia as well as presbyopia. By removing the natural lens and replacing it with a premium intraocular lens, we can reduce or eliminate your need for glasses or contacts. After a through consultation, your surgeon will discuss your options and decide which lens is right for you. All of these procedures are done in an outpatient setting. These options are available for anyone with cataracts, as well as for non cataract patients who simply want to eliminate or reduce their dependency on reading glasses. Learn more>

- Crystalens. Unlike standard cataract replacement lenses, Crystalens lenses correct your cataracts and give you back your full range of vision.

Blepharoplasty/Ptosis
Blepharoplasty is performed to improve puffy lower eyelid "bags" and reduce the wrinkling of skin. Ptosis surgery is intended to treat drooping of the upper eyelid. Both procedures together can help restore a more rested and youthful appearance. Blepharoplasty is sometimes needed for functional reasons. When an advanced amount of upper eyelid skin is present, the skin may protrude over the eyelashes and causes a loss of peripheral vision. The outer and upper parts of the visual field are most commonly affected and the condition may cause difficulty with activities such as driving or reading. In this circumstance, upper eyelid blepharoplasty is performed to improve peripheral vision. Learn more >
