TECNIS Multifocal Lenses

For patients diagnosed with cataracts, near-sightedness or far-sightedness, the state-of-the-art TECNIS Multifocal Intra-Ocular Lens (IOL), used by OcuSight, can give patients back their youthful high quality functional vision to see and do things in a wide range of lighting conditions. The TECNIS Multifocal IOL is an excellent choice for those that desire the ability to see well at both distance and near without having to rely on glasses for most activities.

What is an Intra-Ocular Lens (IOL)?

An intra-ocular lens, or IOL, is a lens that is surgically implanted to replace the natural lens of the eye. This is done after the removal of a cataract or to correct near-sightedness or far-sightedness without the presence of a cataract. It stays within the eye and works for a lifetime without replacement.

Am I a candidate for the TECNIS Multifocal Intra-Ocular Lens?

A consultation with one of our physician's can determine if the TECNIS Multifocal Lens is an option that is right for your lifestyle and eye health. Generally, if you are diagnosed with far-sightedness, near-sightedness or cataracts and are experiencing one or more of the following symptoms, you may be a candidate:

  • Difficulty reading
  • Difficulty seeing close objects
  • Changing eyeglass prescriptions
  • Needing bifocals

How is the procedure to insert the TECNIS Intra-Ocular lens performed?

The procedure is generally performed in an outpatient setting and takes about an hour start -to-finish. Under local or topical anesthesia and through a small self-healing incision, your opthamologist will remove the natural lens from your eye and implant the TECNIS IOL.

How soon will I be able to see properly?

Recovery time for cataract surgery with an intra-ocular lens is relatively short. Most patients will have a follow-up visit shortly after their surgery and are able to get back to most normal activities quickly. However, you should not do anything that can elevate your blood pressure and you must not rub your eyes. Full recovery usually takes up to six weeks.

Can I afford the TECNIS Intra-Ocular Lens and what are my payment options?

Patients have many options that can help them afford cataract treatment at OcuSight. Be sure to check your insurance carrier directly as lenses which are designed to improve both distance and near vision, as well as the additional testing and physician care required, are often not covered by insurance plans, however payment plans are available for every budget.
